Spring Autism Education Series: Learn from a BCBA – Autism Specialist, Classroom 1: Generalization and Maintenance
June 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
This workshop will help caregivers understand the importance of generalizing a skill (ex. saying “hi”) to other people and locations. Generalizing a skill is important for various reasons; after you teach a skill to your child you would want them to also perform that skill with other people and in different situations/environments such as saying hi to various individuals. This workshop will focus on what is generalization, what is maintenance, why are they so important and the difference between the two? We will also discuss tips that caregivers can use in their day-to-day life to teach generalization to their child. Generalizing and maintaining a certain skill is crucial as it is the end goal for ABA.
All workshops are for families with children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and are registered with The Ontario Autism Program (OAP).
In Person Event: Two presentations will be held simultaneously to meet the needs of all our caregivers, mix and match the workshop that best meet your needs, a similar opportunity will be available Fall 2024.
Event Location: Your Support Services Network Office, 240 Edward St. Aurora.
Light refreshments will be served.
