Foundational Family Services

Ontario Autism Program

Foundational Family Services (FFS) are one of five streams of support for children and youth registered in the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). FFS help families navigate services, connect to community resources, plan for transition, and access helpful information to better support and care for their autistic child, from birth up to the age of 18. Our services are available free of charge to children registered with the OAP and living in York Region.

As part of the OAP Foundational Family Services, Your Support Services offers:

Access information workshops for parents and caregivers

There is a lot to know and navigate when caring for your autistic child. Our workshops cover a wide range of topics to address your family’s needs, including understanding school board processes and documents, advocacy skills, funding options, and more.

Plan your child’s transition to kindergarten and adulthood

Prepare your family and child for major transitions! We host information sessions on transitioning to kindergarten, high school and adult services. You can also access one-on-one appointments for transition support.

Get connected to peer supporters and mentors

Our peer support workers have all been where you are. Our mentors also have an autistic child, or a child with a developmental disability, and will provide emotional and social support through group sessions, referrals to resources, and wellness workshops.

Meet with a family services worker to coordinate services

We’re here for you! Our workers are available to provide support for:
