Mobile Crisis Response Teams

YSSN’s Mobile Crisis Response Teams (MCRT) are accessible through local emergency services and can come to you.

How we can help

MCRT consist of crisis workers who partner with police officers to respond to 911 calls that have a mental health component. MCRT units provide support from the individual’s call to 911 through to on-site assessment, support, and follow-up. Some of our emergency services partners include York Region Police, South Simcoe Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, York Region Paramedics and Simcoe Paramedic Services.

  • We partner with police services to better serve the community with support from mental health professionals during a mental health crisis
  • We help people in crisis at their point of need by making initial contact and getting people connected to community supports meet their immediate needs
  • We give people hope when they don’t know where else to turn

“I am a woman of colour, survivor of domestic violence, refugee claimant, single mother, internationally trained professional, ambitious, empowered entrepreneur who spent more than a decade on a waiting list for affordable housing. Some of the community services I utilized included, but not limited to, the Domestic Abuse Sexual Assault Care Centre of York Region, Women’s College Hospital, Women’s Support Network, Women Centre of York Region and YSSN. I am thrilled to be such an active part of the York Region community and I have a lot to say about people’s ability to get the services they need.” – Carleen M..
